Black panther


The production company for Black Panther is Marvel productions. The casting is mostly Black individuals. Some of the cast include, Chadwick Boseman (who plays the main character Black Panther) who was paid $5 million, Michael B. Jordan (who plays Erik Killmonger), Lupita Nyong'o (who plays Nakia) and many more other actors.

The film explores what it means to be black, the main character is a black superhero, most of the cast are black, and the director is also black. This doesn’t only show the unity of black excellence,  but shows how popular the movie is amongst the population, as the movie is on its way to becoming a large blockbuster; in fact one of Marvel's biggest blockbusters of all time.

The production budget for the whole film was $200million dollars and this did not include advertising and marketing. This included detailed props such as “There are spaceships, superconductors, and skyscrapers in the country; the beautiful costumes are rich in detail”. The budget was also spent on the music rights, the storyline rights, the props, the cast members, the equipment, the make-up, the settings (scenes) and many more.

The marketing campaign the movie used was at first, a teaser trailer of bits of the movie. Then, it progressed into releasing an official trailer which gained 17 million views. This the progressed into social media coverage as many began to tweet about the movie. Many believed the movie was a movement empowering black creatives.

Marvel pushed forward with multiple TV slots, and gave Kendrick Lamar (a popular artist amongst their target audience) soundtrack on the movie. This allowed the movie to reach a much more wider audience and an audience they wanted to reach ( the younger generation) as many young people listen to Kendrick Lamar.

Black panther also was partners with Lexus, a car company, and they introduced two new cars that was inspired by the movie "Black Panther”.

The Super Bowl ad “long live the king” Black Panther ad makes history amongst the audience. The super bowls is famous in America and a lot of people tune in to watch it so this was a good opportunity for the movie to be advertised amungst large numbers of people. the ad uses sets from the movie which gives the people watching the Super Bowl an insight of some parts of the movie.

The big US billboard reveal was also one of their great  marketing techniques. This was captured by famous movie star Lupita Nyong'o and this technique is more popular than ever as fans of the actor was exposed to the movie as well.

Black panther has many licensed products such as merchandise, limited edition trainers, Toys, these are popular for the fans as they can support the movie visibly and this will allow the movie to gain more money.

The Black Panther film has many brand partnerships such as Lexus; who created two cars inspired by the movie, Interscope Records who produced a soundtrack in the movie (record Kendrick Lamar is apart of), and Alisann Blood,

Disney can use other assets to help the film as they have a lot of connections with other companies and they can help market the film. All of the subsidiaries Disney own can impact the advertising of the film which will help the film gain a much more wider audience
